How are Businesses Benefitting from Voice Technology?

Voice assistants such as Alexa and Google Home held a key role in performing daily functions in the home and now it looks as though they’re set to take over the office…

At the end of 2017 Amazon announced the launch of Alexa for Business which has been introduced to enable businesses to bring Alexa into the office on a large scale. The idea is that businesses will use Alexa as an office assistant to carry out basic tasks such as;

  • • Automate dialling to launch a conference call on time
  • • Adjust the temperature in a boardroom
  • • Automatically switch office lights off at a certain time

Businesses are also encouraged to build out ‘skills’ so that Alexa can perform specific company tasks, for example Alexa could potentially extract information from Salesforce or sync with your office calendar to help manage your schedule.

Imagine if you could ask; “Alexa, when is my next meeting” or “Alexa, can you book the boardroom for me at 2pm?”. It would certainly help to streamline certain office admin tasks and save you time!

 Over the next few months, particularly with the launch of Apple’s own voice assistant, the HomePod, we expect to hear lots more on how businesses are utilising Voice Tech.

We’re also really excited to work with businesses to bring this new technology into the office! Email hello@sixports.com to get the conversation started!
